Last Friday I sat quietly sipping my first coffee of the day when, from nowhere, the thought arrived that I should shut The Texture Shop. I’m not sure where the thought came from but as I sat and pondered I realised I felt liberated. I’ve been evolving creatively over the last couple of years and The Texture Shop no longer fits with who I am. It’s time to let go. I’m sure there will still be times when I decide to use my textures but I’m ready to let go of the last thing that ties my creative process to making money.

So where is this creative evolution taking me? I don’t quite know! I’m picking my camera up less often, but more intentionally when I do. I’m finding myself more drawn to simple, poetic images. I’m learning to draw and paint, or at least I’m muddling along and trying to get better. I’d like to be writing more, and possibly sharing poetry to go alongside my images. Right now I’m happy to just play and see what emerges.
The Texture Shop will close at the end of February, until then there is 25% off single collections and 50% off if you buy two or more. Click here to visit the shop.
