Arriving Right Back Where I Started….

A couple of years ago I took the decision to move away from a self hosted WordPress site after experiencing issues due to a disappointing lack of communication from my hosting company. I hadn’t been too happy with my site for a while so although I hadn’t actually planned to migrate to a completely different platform it did feel like a positive move. But then I still didn’t particularly like the site, so a year later I moved platforms. I liked the site a bit better but found blogging there frustrating, so once again I found myself moving after a year.

This time I finally feel that I’ve achieved what I wanted, a clean and simple looking site where I can hopefully return to blogging purely for pleasure. It’s around eight years since I set up a site under the title ‘Definitely Dreaming’, it was meant to be purely a creative outlet, a place to share whatever I’d been shooting without feeling any need to conform. Somehow it evolved into to something more, which was wonderful, but now it’s time to re-embrace my original ideas – and where better to do that but right back on a WordPress site! This time I’ve chosen not to go self hosted but to have a paid plan on WordPress.com – and hopefully this version will last more than a year…

black and white ICM photography in the woods with a Lensbaby Trion 28

I’m not not sure where I’m heading with the blog at moment, photography will (obviously) feature, but I hope to embrace whatever makes me curious – so who knows what’s around the corner!

This black and white ICM photo was taken with the Lensbaby Trio 28* in the local millennium woods. I’ve often thought of trying to shoot an ongoing project here since it’s just around the corner from my home but I’m not great a repeatedly shooting in the same location. I admire others that do it but I soon lose interest.

*With a wide aperture of f3.5 and a the wider focal length the Trio 28 isn’t really an ideal lens for ICM but this is one of my favourite images from my ICM phase.

      1. I’ve just left Squarespace, I thought it was great for building the website but for some reason I couldn’t take to it for blogging. Let me know when you go live, I’d love to see what you’ve been up to!

    1. Oh you should definitely try Wendy! Although I must admit I do wonder whether starting with a less sharp image makes any difference to the end result? I think it must have some sort of impact but if I’m honest I just use the Lensbabies because they are in my bag. And thanks for your kind words x
