I used to write but I stopped. For various reasons. And for a long while that was okay, but as time went on I missed it. I missed that little buzz of satisfaction when the words came together in a way that just felt right. I would tell myself I’d start again just as soon as I felt a little bit inspired, and I’d wait for inspiration to arrive. But of course it doesn’t work like that, inspiration needs a bit of assistance.

In addition to a subscription for a quarterly dose of inspiration I’ve made myself just sit and write. A lovely notebook, a favourite pen and just ten minutes with no pressure. No need for anything polished or even finished, just some random words on a page. And I’ve looked back on some notebooks and been surprised to find new poems growing from old words.
I think Covid might
be to blame
for my brain
that wants to write poems
but
just
won’t
work
In order to try and keep a bit of momentum going I decided it was time to put more of my words out into the world – on an old anonymous blog that no one reads. While at the same time posting nothing on this blog because I haven’t been shooting much! Doesn’t really make sense….
So I am, once more, giving this blog a bit of a revamp – hello Poetic Wanderings! – and will hopefully be sharing more writing (in whatever form that happens to take) alongside my photography.
